Organising Busy Lives | Why is a Sixteen Month Calendar / Diary NOT a waste?

Why is a Sixteen Month Calendar / Diary NOT a waste?

One of the issues that provokes the most customer comments, is the fact that our sixteen month dated products are a waste.   After all, there’s only 12 months in a year and you get four months duplicated when you only need one diary / calendar for September surely!

In a way they’re right.  You should only use one diary at once and taking both out with you would just be plain daft. But there’s one of the reasons we do it right there.

If you have a standard 12 month diary, you ARE taking two out with you. If you go to a meeting in November and the next meeting date is likely to be in January, what are you taking with you?  This year’s diary or next year’s? I reckon you’d probably take both.  So there’s the first thing - it stops you having to take two diaries out with you and you get to move over when you have the time to do it, not when the diary dictates that you do.

The next biggest complaint we get, is that customers are wasting their money buying months that they’re not going to use - and we’re all trying to prevent waste , aren’t we?  Here at Organised Mum I do the majority of the buying and I also set the prices so I know that this isn’t so. In fact, this sixteen month feature is saving you money.  Here’s why:

There’s huge demand for academic year diaries and January to December diaries and to keep everyone happy,we’d be forced to make both .

I’d be buying two versions of the same book each year with the same risk of running out of stock or having too much stock that people wouldn’t purchase, as our customers would have moved on to the next version.  This is a problem for us (as it is for clothing retailers, and lots of different season-dependent businesses). If I get it wrong (and I do each year, it’s impossible to get it right without a crystal ball) I get it wrong twice in one year.  This senario has the potential to result in extraordinary amount of waste and it makes that waste twice in a year.  I’d have to charge more for the diary because the print runs would be less and therefore the unit price would be more expensive.  In fact, I worry that with the number of features that we’ve piled into these products, we couldn’t do them for a price that our customers would pay, and I’d have to go back to working for someone else.

So as you can see, this feature is a really clever way of combining two products into one and stopping more waste and more product miles than are necessary.

The final thing I want to do is to make a promise to you. If you can find a diary or calendar in the UK of the same quality and with the same great features as ours, for cheaper than ours (you might want to include the postal charges that our competitors will make you pay) that only has a 12 month duration, then send your Organised Mum product back to us for a full refund. Tell us what product you’ve found too, we’d love to know!

I hope this helps and if someone asks you why, direct them here!
